Our Instructor Mrs Helen Low

Mrs Helen Lee Low has studied piano performance with renowned musicians such as Leon Fleisher, Steven Bishop Kovachevich, James Tocco, Michel Block, Pamela Paul, Vladimir Viardo and Tong Il Han. While studying in USA she earned a full scholarship to study for her Bachelor of Music at Indiana University, following which she was awarded a Teaching Fellowship to study her Master of Music at the University of North Texas. Her concert career covers cities in the USA, Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

As a guest soloist, she has performed with the Seoul Juenesse Orchestra under the baton of Lim Won Shik, the University of North Texas Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also appeared on T.V. and her performances have been recorded for radio programs in Hong Kong.

In Singapore, Mrs Low performs regularly at Lunch Time Concerts by Shell, Lassalle-SIA, NTU, and ESSO Series. As a chamber musician, she has performed with members of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and the T’ang Quartet.

She often organises concerts to help raise funds for several charity organisations such as Children’s Cancer Society, NIE/NTU Musician-in-Residence Fund, Singapore Lifeline and Tan Tock Seng Hospital for HIV+ patients.

Mrs Low conducts master classes in Korea, Singapore, and the USA, and teaches at the Tong Il Han Piano Camp and The Moack Piano Festival in Korea. She has served as a jury member in the University of Southeast Oklahoma Piano Competition and the District National Federation of Music Club Piano Competition (USA). Currently she teaches at National Institute of Education and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and Liszt Piano Institute in Gwuang Ju, Korea.
